The Shardana Estates
The farm SHARDANA ESTATES was born, with great pride, from a family passion with a long tradition, which starts from our land and is transformed into a product that is its identity expression, to share a great objective: the daily commitment to the search for traditional product quality, in line with the needs of our customers.
With this in mind, we present the great classic wines rich in tradition: Il Cagnularibright ruby red colour with violet-tinged transparencies; the Vermentinowith its classic pale straw yellow colour with the scents and aromas of the sea and the CannonauIntense ruby red in colour with a full, dry taste.

The Meaning of our Wine Label
On the label of our Cagnulari wine, the ancient shield of the Shardana warriors is reproduced in stylised art according to reconstructions based on Nuragic bronze statues from the Ilia period.

The Shardana Warriors
The ancient Shardana warriors (or more correctly Sherdana, and also Sher-den) were a population of the Coalition of Sea Peoples mentioned in Egyptian sources from the 2nd millennium BC and presumably identifiable with the ancient Sardinians. Egyptian documents dating back to the Amarnian period that first mention this population are written in hieroglyphics that phonetically indicate only the consonants SRDN; thus, there is no certainty as to the correct pronunciation of these ideograms, although the most accredited is Serdèn. The currently most probable hypothesis is that the ancient Sherdana came from the eastern Mediterranean, settled in Sardinia and identified themselves as the Nuragic peoples who later attempted the conquest of Egypt. From ancient Mesopotamia to Egypt, the cultivation of vines and the practice of winemaking then spread throughout the central Mediterranean and from there to Europe thanks to the Roman Empire.
